What sort of event could I run as part of National Water Week?
There are many ways that you can involve your school or group in National Water Week. Below are a variety of activities that may provide some inspiration for your own event. Alternatively, check out the Events Register for activities in your local area that are already planned, and which you may be able to take part in.
- Take part in activities to clean up your local waterway (contact your local council or search for an activity on the National Water Week calendar).
- Aquatic macro-invertebrate sampling (Contact your local 'Water Watch' coordinator).
- Competitions - photo, art, colouring-in, stories, essays
- Hold a seminar or presentation and invite someone to talk about water
- Hold an information stall at your local shopping centre to promote wise water use (contact your local council and/or water authority for resources)
- Organise an excursion to a water treatment plant
- Visit a water wise demonstration home
- Take part in water quality monitoring activities (Contact your local 'Water Watch' coordinator).
- Organise a parade
- Hold a concert
- Organise a walk along a local waterway
