About the Australian Water Association
National Water Week was previously an initiative of the State and Government natural resource management agencies. In 2005 the Australian Water Association gained management to provide national coordination and a centralised hub for the event, allowing a national focus but retaining its emphasis on local events and community participation.
Participation in water management is a social priority that is here to stay, crossing generations and geographical boundaries, and provides and broad demographic to target got attitude and behaviours change, with special emphasis on community groups, water industry, schools and media.
The Australian Water Association is the peak body representing water professionals in Australia. Independent and not-for-profit, the AWA promoted sustainable water management through collaboration, advocacy and professional development.
